Women, it’s time to put yourself first! Preventive care is key to avoiding serious health issues.
April 30, 2019
Women’s top three health threats are heart disease, cancer and chronic lower respiratory disease. Women also face the unique challenges that come with pregnancy, child birth and menopause.
Plus, they experience certain medical conditions differently than men. For example, women are more likely to:
· Die after a heart attack.
· Show signs of depression and anxiety.
· Get serious side effects from sexually transmitted diseases.
· Struggle with osteoarthritis.
· Have urinary tract issues.
Maintaining a healthy lifestyle, with plenty of good nutrition, physical activity, sleep and stress outlets –as well as not smoking or drinking, can significantly reduce the risk for many of these problems. It’s important that women pay close attention to their reproductive health by going to the doctor for their yearly well-woman exam and scheduling regular mammograms, Pap smears and other cancer screenings.
